Coconut Products Limited has a small herd of cattle that they run amongst their copra (coconut) plantation at
Ulaveo. We were driving through one day on the way to
Tovarua Beach, when we came across this calf in amongst the copra. Its mother had obviously left it there to rest while she grazed.
This photo was taken from a moving car and isn’t the best, but I thought it was unusual enough to post.
Thanks to Denton at Greenville Daily Photo for feeding the cat and posting for me while I am in Vietnam!!
Veal in Coconut... sounds mouth watering.;)
ReplyDeleteIt was a perfect place to rest as it blended in so well with the copra
So well camoflauged! And looks so content.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your surprise message from Vietnam...hope to catch up with you when you return. All visitors have departed,no new ones are anticipated, life will slowly return to normal ,sleep patterns will be restored and my talked-out voice will heal! LOL!
Hi M.Benaut,
ReplyDeleteThanks for that info about Benson; sounds like he's a PAC (ie a pretty average cat). My PAC is called Luiza, aka Princess Wee Wee and she too is like Benson. picky.
Wow, cows in Rabaul! I'd never seen a cow till I went " Down South" on leave. They were virtually unknown in PNG and the ones in the PM dairy were kept in air conditioned quarters. They must have developed tropical proof cattle for NG conditions. Maybe it had something to do with the paucity of flat grazing land. I don.t remember a lot of that in and around the Gazelle Peninsula.
Coconuts and cattle, great juxtapositioning.
Is she hidding away? Seems...
ReplyDeleteHi guys - me again - just a quick note from Halong Bay - the typhoon hit three days ago and sank 24 boats in the bay - what good timing for us we have arr after it is all over. Amazing place and the camera has nearly melted!!!
ReplyDeleteCatch you all again from somewhere else
BYE!!!
Jules xx
It blends right in!!!It was nice to hear from you...hope you are having a great time!
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying them all, day by day.
ReplyDeleteHave a good time.
Ripper, Jules,
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work @ your end.
We're managing, if only at !/2 strength down under.
Benson and Denton are subdued with all the tasks at hand, but I must say there are still a few cans of baked beans left in the cupboard in the back shed. Benson is forever vigilant and Denton has got the hang of it. He gets up in the wee hours and posts impeccably; every day. He is worth his weight,,, and that's a compliment.
So, as you can see, we are struggling on; with chin up,,,,
Your role is to unlax and rip into all that Vietnamese stuff. We even have Pia a bit more relaxed; she was getting quite worried a while ago.
Anyhow, I reckon that she has probably picked some bananas and frangipannis to decorate the table for your return. Benson approves.
no worries at all, this end, cobber !!
The Calf has exactly the same expression that my spaniel often adopts...
ReplyDeletePlanet Earth Daily Photo.
Gosh, this is an unusual photo, Jules. Well caught.
ReplyDeleteINcredible photo! The cow probably left it there because it is the same color as the coprah.
ReplyDeleteWow, what amazing camouflage... I didn't realise cattle were quite so cunning. :D
