Three Girls and a Volcano

My daughters are home (with two friends), so we spent this afternoon in Rabaul doing all the touristy things which includes a walk-on-the-wild-side down to the hot springs across from the volcano.

The water at the base of the knoll the girls are standing on is boiling.

With the girls here it means my time to visit other blogs (which usually takes a few hours) is now almost non-existent for a week or two. I will still post but may not get to many of you - sori tru!!

More photos of the Japanese Bridge on my Vietnam Blog today.

There is something mystical or maybe frightening about being that close to a volcano. It is to me. Boiling water at my feet would make me worry.

I like the photograph and the girls adventurous spirit and faith in mom that the thing won't erupt. Or, does it erupt like those in Hawaii?

Fabulous, Jules!
I'm with Old Man Lincoln; I wouldn't have ventured up there … at least not without a bag of vegetables on a string.

Well blow me down an' shiver me timbers. Crikey; Benson has let me down ! It's your Birthday !!!!!
I was going to rush up there with tins of baked beans to cook in the boiling water, but now it's Champagne, flowers and oysters naturelles.
Je vous souhaite un anniversaire magnifique et joyeux; et une bouteille de Gin pour chaque année de votre vie.
Happy birthday, dear Jules from Madame et moi.

Wonderful. The rocks looks like animals. I agree with Rich - a tortoise. All rather mystical and wondrous. Fabulous, Jules.

Jules - Happy Birthday! How wonderful to have your girls home with you. The photo is terrific, if rather scary but obviously the girls have just taken things in their stride. Have a great time with your family celebrations.
