It's raining it's pouring the old man is......

In PNG many buildings don’t have gutters and have square, not round, down pipes.

Can you guess why?

I’m in Australia at the moment so He Who Doesn’t Blog and Benson are batching and posting for me while I am away. I bet they’re watching TV and drinking bia with their feet on the coffee table.

They will be able to post each day as I won’t be doing any visiting. Thanks for dropping in to say hi while I’m away. I will try and pop in and leave a comment.

Could it be that in your nick of the woods, raindrops are square?
Or does it suit Benson better to rush up the downpipe to catch rats and geckos ?
What is the prize for the correct answer?
Are the downpipes in Qld. square also, - we need a hint ?

So that it will not be a breeding ground for mozzie?

Is it because rain is precious and for conservation reasons? that it just makes sense for the rain to go where it naturally would go?

would small creatures make a temporary home in a gutter? but square downspouts ? Are they easier to make?

we can't have standing water here in summer because of disease carrying mosquitoes, We either have to put some bird safe chemical in our bird bathsto kill mosquito larvae or empty them. Could it be that you would get standing water in your gutters and breed disease through mosquitos?
