Sing sing cacophony

This sing sing was held by workers at a friend's factory.

Around their ankles are seed pods that rattle when they move.

Jules did you join in with this Sing Sing and give then a Song Song?
Love the colours and the painted face.. Jane wears something similar to bed at night, says it dose her skin good...that an the cucumber slices on her eyes, lemon juice in her hair. Peach, Apple, and Mango made in a paste and used around her forehead, nose and chins (she as 3 now) It's like getting into bed with a fruit salad at times.

I'm thinking that fashion can take us to strange dress. Okay, okay, I know this isn't fashion, at least not today's fashion, but I couldn't help but ponder what fashion dictates for many of us.

Wonderful colors. It looks like it was a wonderful ceremony. I've never heard music from PNG, I guess I should check my public library's collection and see if they have any in their collection.

Tom made me laugh and Jane would skin him.

I like your photo today and the costumes are really great.

I was out of town for a week and Connie was posting on my site for me while I was gone. I’m just now getting time to visit your site to see what I missed. And as expected you have some very nice photos posted in the last week. I always enjoy your posts.

Hi All

Tom - no my sing sing days are over!!!! Jane's facial concoction sounds good enough to eat!!!

Lyn - I don't think they signify anything - just extra noise and decoration!!

Clueless - PNG has a huge local modern music industry and some of the music is fabulous.
The music for these sings sings is usually more of a percussion occassion!!!

Annie - I do think this type of costume can inspire modern day designers. Maybe seed pods around ankles will be on the cat-walks of Paris this year!!!

I LOVE the juxtaposition of traditional costumes with the shades and ghetto-blaster, Jules.
Wonderfully shot as always.

I love to see these "traditionals" wearing the "Ray Bans" as accessory to the feathers!

whoa --what nice color! I have a thing for seed pods, so I would definitely wear these anklets!

So they also have the «chocalho na canela» like the «morena from Angola»... Beautiful pictures!
Did you know that PNG is the country in the world with more languages spoken? 820? Does it make sense to you?
Have a cultural break at Blogtrotter. ;)
Enjoy!

Hello
I came across your blog while trying to research some information on Dr Himson Mulas, who I understand was from that area of PNG.
Would you know anything about him?
My email is kathy@lexicon.net

Many Thanks
Kathy..
