The old market (bung) is falling down around our ears so thanks to the Gazelle Restoration Authority and finance from the World Bank, a new market is being built across the road. It is looking quite spectacular so I went for a closer look. I went back on Sunday when it was quieter and the workers had gone, and took more photos. I will go back and photograph it when it is finished and in operation.
A few years back I had the opportunity to tour the World Bank facilities in Washington DC. At the time there was abstract talk about the projects which they help fund ... Your photo makes the concept less abstract.

ReplyDeleteThe roof and the supports are just great. I like the look of markets from around the world, here in the UK we used to have great markets. Now most of the stuff sold is shoddy, or counterfeit goods at knock down prices. Farmers Markets are the thing now over here, local farmers selling there wares and goods. It's nice to see the vegetables still wearing the soil they grew in.
