A pier, a sunny day and friends

It‘s Sunday and these kids like nothing better than diving off the Vunapope pier.

Unlike kids in other places in the world who have the day in front of them, they really don’t have a lot to choose from. They have no computers, game-boys, shopping malls, movies, skateboards or bicycles; many don’t even own a book.

Are they missing out or not?

  3. Don't think so either....what a wonderfully free life! I wonder how they feel about that, you also Jules, as someone involved in their education?

  4. Wow, I can't think of anythings they are really missing, save for a blanket, many books and a cool glass of lemonade.

  5. On a book, yes...they are missing out. Other than that, they may indeed be blessed. I wish my grandson's "DS" would self implode.

  6. Ah a land without McD would do for me -- was watching a nature program on TV last night that featured PNG and some of its exotic wildlife!

  8. Beautiful picture showing just what children should be doing, playing and enjoying a childhood. Yes they might be missing books and I suppose other stuff we take for granted.
What a differance to see this and not hooded kids leaning on walls to bored with life to do anything. Lots of Children in the UK spend all day on Games machine killing god knows what, and filling their minds with junk. Their childhood is a short process, then it's pre-teen yobs. Bring Back Childhood I say.

  9. There you go. Start a lending library for kids.

You know that when I was growing up we didn't have any of those things either. Not even a book.

  11. First these shots are amazing. Fantastic silhouettes. Brilliant!

And no I don't think they are missing out at all. Au contraire - this is what it's all about or should be.

  12. some fine photos here, J. Enjoyable, dramatic, fun. Well done.

AT last I've got my feeds working on the other machine, so I'm no longer deprived. That rat Google and his mate Gates DELETED my whole "desktop" function.....I cannot believe it. So the computer sits there amd I can't ask it to do anything.
