Theme Post for February - What your city is known for…….

What your city is known for…….It’s Beauty and it’s Violence

Beauty – stunning scenery, wonderful friendly people and seas filled with colourful coral and a myriad of sea creatures.

This photo was taken by Ray on 7 Oct 2006

Violence – the effects of the German and Japanese invasions and the resulting wars, and geological upheavals in the form of earthquakes and the ever present volcano, Mt Tavurvur

I would have to change my shorts if I was standing there and saw that bottom picture. Wow.

I trust you.
Wild beauties.

Talk about "Beauty and the Beast"!

Both sides are still so beautiful. I'm with Abe. I don't think I'd be that calm standing in front of a spewing volcano!

Wow, the Volcano is scary but it is a once in a lifetime chances of capturing an exploding volcano.

Woohoo!
Our stupid hills don't do that.
It's not fair.

Rabaul DP just keeps getting better.
I would kill to see that volcano, those magnificent waters and what there is to see under them.

Happy Theme Day to you, to HWDB and to Benson.
And to the gang in the Land Down under.

Vos photos sont merveilleuses ! Merci.

Wonderful pictures - as always! Actually I knew next to nothing about Rabaul and PNG until I found your blog, so for me what your city is known for is Rabaul DP!

Looks like an interesting place. So much beauty tempered by the ever present threat of volcanic upheaval. I gues we don't find perfection anywhere, not even in paradise
