I am actually "down the road" all week working in Goroka - home of the Asaro Mud Men (check this photo out ) ....and yes I am sick of airports!!!

I've just spent a pleasent hour reading up on Asaro Mudnen... there can look very scary, but they story was fun to read. I came across a picture of our Queen being driven by them ..

The people in Mt H are a photographers delight. I wish I'd had my camera at the market - the faces were stunning. My PNG colleagues wouldn't let me take my camera and were worried about me even walking around the market. The school bus driver insisted he come with me (which was great as he was a really nice man and I'm sure the prices were better with him beside me), but the people were so welcoming and so lovely I was really upset I had left the camera at the hotel!!!

Your photos of flying in to Mt. Hagen remind me so much of flying in to Wamena and other Balim Valley areas. Have you been there? (It should look familiar; the mountains are in the same range, aren't they?)
Yep...you answered the question I was going to ask, Jules, about airports. Hope this traipsing around the bush doesn't last much longer for you...sounds way too exhausting! Get yourself home to your view, HWDB, your animals and a glass of vino!

Great portrait. His face is full of character ... You should consider submitting a few of your photos to National Geographic.
Firstly, I was taken by the lined faces - such character. Then I thought about the hats - beanies. I think men - especially young men - wear them so that their mother doesn't say anything about their greasy, unshampooed hair!
