God Save the Queen

Yesterday I found these photos that Mark emailed me. He didn't say who had taken them but it looks like there were taken from a helicopter. I had forgotten how fabulous they were and even though they aren’t recent, I thought they were worth sharing with you.

They are of the QE II as she steamed into Rabaul on her whirlwind tour in December last year.

The volcano gave the passengers a priceless display and the locals did very well selling their wares on the wharf to them.

When I saw the title "God save the queen" I remembered that punk song by Sex Pistols going "God save the Queen, this a fascist regime... no future".
Then went down and saw those amazing photos.
Yes, the colours down there are much brighter.

Wow. Double Wow. Very impressive. That is some ship. I would risk a trip on something like that if I didn't have something else to do.

I am impressed really.

I spent most of today working on my website which has slowly become a turd. So I wrecked it and came up with some new ideas. I will publish a new picture there at least once a day. My Website

I also got a new design for the birds blog. You might want to see it.My Birds Blog

Thanks a lot for the welcome to see your Queen. What an amazing ship she is. Thanks.

Wow. Those are beautiful photos, Jules.
The QE2 is is so sleek and graceful; thank goodness they didn't model it on our real Queen! Ick.

So much more graceful than her namesake...ha! only joking. It is a fantastic ship and it is shown there at its best. These picture are stunning Jules.

How beautiful! At first the plume from the volcano seemed to me lazy eyes to be coming from the Queen's stack! Silly me. These are wonderful pics!

Magnificent shot. It must have been quite exciting to have the QE2 in Port. And the passengers must have been delighted with their perfect views of the volcano.

Marie - PNG is part of the Commonwealth so recognizes the present Queen as their own. She and members of the family have visited here.

ann - i think the passengers had a fabulous view of everything from that height!!

Gorgeous pictures! I may be wrong but I "think" its journey started in Brooklyn. Used to be in the NY West Side but I think it moved to Brooklyn something like two years ago. So now I know the way to come and say hi! ;)
