A bright new day.

My planned post for today has been postponed until tomorrow so I could welcome a new visitor to the world of blogging - my Mum!!!

She is off to the town library today, in Roma Western Queensland, with a set of instructions on how to use a computer and how to tap into my blogs. How exciting!! She is in her seventies (hope you don't mind everyone knowing Mum) and I have been trying to get her into this for a while.

So today is a bright new day - Rabaul and Roma linked through the wonders of technology which my Mum would never have believed possible in her youth.

That's great! She may find the Internet addicitve. :) I tried to get my mom (in her 70s) to learn but didn't quite succeed because she does not remember. I just show her some great photos from the DP sites when I can, or some good articles.

What a delightful picture Jules..

Now then which ones the mother..Ha!

I also would like to welcome your mother a wish her all the best, I love this blogging and the internet. It's opened a whole new world up to me. Enjoy.
I hope she finds all this to her liking, my mother would have loved this sort of thing I'm sure, my older sister as started looking in on my blog now, she as not yet mastered the art of commenting apart from picking up the phone.. I keep telling her what to do, but she rightly says this to me "oh! its as easy to pick up the phone Tom"
By the way Jiles we have coconuts here as well.. 3 for a £1 at the fruit and Veg shop. ; )

Howdy, jules' Mum, and welcome to the mad family.
I reckon you'll get a bunch of laughs out of this game and make some new friends in way-out places.
Naturally, Roma is way-out, so we can all be your friend too.

I'm so glad to know that the curtains don't fade in Roma. Down here we have to replace them as fast as the sun rises.

As Macca says; "Get into it, Mum".

Une bienvenue très grande de M. Benaut et Mme..

I see it was a resounding success, since I am following her comment!
People over 60 are the fastest growing segment of the American population getting wired (or wireless, whichever the case may be ;-)

Fantastic post, Jules, and good on you, Jules' mum. i 've tried to persuade my mum that she can do stuff on the computer, down at her local library, read my blog, and that of her grand=daughter, but she always says it's too hard. I try and point out the ways she uses computers in her life, every day, but that seems different to her. Yet, she is a wizz at playing games on the computer (when she is staying at my sister's) and types like a pro.

Kudos to her for giving it a try! She is a cutie!

What a wonderful post and welcome indeed to your mother. Love both photos.

A friend, who works IT, told me he overheard two 70-plus ladies talking the other day at the check-out of the supermarket where he lives, here in France. And what were they discussing? Why, the speed of their respective broadband lines! How the world has changed.

Welcome, Mama, you are gong to LOVE it! And you'll adore your daughter's blog as we all do.

Hi here, Jules's Mum,

G'day from Melbourne and welcome to the wonderful world of blogging, where we choose our friends carefully from those with common interests - not just because we want lots of ``friends'' on social networking sites.

Cheers

David

That is a bright new day. For ladies and gents everywhere who are scared of computers. My wife and I are living examples of what old folks do and can do. LOL.

Nice to meet your mom.

Hello Mum!
Welcome to Blogville.

My Mum is in her seventies too, Jules. She's been blogging for a while now (including embarrassing stuff about me).
She's on cakesandal.blogger.com if you want to show your Mum that seventy-something is a great age to take up blogging.
