BBQ at the end of the world.
We often go over to where the photo of the sign was taken in yesterday's blog and have a BBQ. When the volcano is not ashing so much it is a surreal experience.
The area is lit by the glow and roar of the volcano and we sit and watch the fireworks. This time however we had only been there 5 minutes when it started raining.
PS Nathalie asked where I live in relation to yesterday's photos. If you go down to the bottom of this page and look at M & Mme Benaut's post, you will see the volcano in the background - about 17 km as the crow flies. This photo was taken in front of my place. Rabaul is behind and to the left of the ash cloud.
Ooops - they are no longer on the bottom !! Click on older posts at the bottom of the page and they will be at the top of the page that pops up.

BBQ in the rain at a volcano... how exciting is that?
The party goes on... atta girl!
Nice pics!
I've had dinner once at the base of the (active) Arenal vulcano in Costa Rica and it was awesome, so I think I know what you mean by surreal!... But that one over there looks much more dangerous! Have fun and take care! :-)
Wow the volcano photo looked amazing. Rain is fun too...lol. Had been through this experience too, so we continue BBQ under some umbrellas...lol
Looks like you need one or two of those pop-up canopies. That volcano looks like a glowing heap of rubies - astounding!
Oh wow, that's both awesome and scary!
Love your title for the post. :)
What a fantastic place for a barbie!
And wet-look Jules, too! What a hottie. Hee hee.
BBQ in the rain by a volcano - what a different life you lead from us!
Hi All
Hyde & ancient one - yeah, weird aren't we??
Dive - we all looked like shags on a rock when the night was over.
JM & Alice - experienced hey? Well you'd be on the regular invitation list if you lived here
Elaine - the canopy was actually a tarp that "volunteers" were holding up over our heads. We eventually abandoned them after we ate and stood in the rain!!
craver & donna - you bet!!!
hilda - the noise of it is quite scary - it sounds like a jet plane taking off.
Love the first photo - it's full of heat and passion :D How wonderful to party and have a barbecue with friends.
Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your kind comments. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Quite an experience indeed...!
The photo of the roaring vulcano is magnificent.

Hope all is well with ya, Jules ...
Dear Jules,

Oh my God, I just noticed the volcane thing! You have humour, tough!
But your photos are stunning! Great! A sensation! My husband just saw them too and he is also overwhelmed!
The first photo is absolutely fantastic.
Volcanic parties and the rain cannot dampen your enthusiam. Now that's a barbie.
Wow what an amazing experience it must be to watch those fireworks! Thanks for sharing the photo.

Does it have a peculiar smell?
Hi Everyone
Quinto - so glad you are back - missed your visits, and your wine!!! When you visit a BBQ at the volcano will be on the itinerary!!!
marie - so glad you like the photos
kris - when the sulphur is pumping out it smells really bad but it wasn't that noticable when we were there.
