Stick 'em up!!
We have been besieged by stick insects (Phasmatodea) lately. They seem to be everywhere.
Apparently they make great pets.Let's see ....2 dogs, 2 cats, a rabbit and a bird, AND a hundred or so stick insects.....hmmmm maybe not!!!!

Oh my gosh, now I see! It's hanging from a suspended string of beads! I'm not sure I'd like too many of those underfoot. Do they get in the house?
They sell these in some pet shops here in the UK.. which I find sad... I'd much rather see them there in PNG.. but maybe not in your home.. :O)
uselaine - no we have screens so they are all over the deck.
Tom - yes they are free-ranging around here. My younger daughter took much delight in chasing her big sister around the house with one!!!!
I hate insects, we are besieged by beetles right now. Can't imagine having an insect as a pet, I would prefer a dog, much more loveable!
Stick insects are so cool! Your composition is great too! The background is a palmtree leaf, right?

Mango season! Mmmmm! Do tell us when rambutan season starts--early December, maybe? Rambutan='hair fruit', the round red peels with tentacles?

willow - rambutans come in around Christmas time - they have a shorter season than mangoes. Will do a post for you when i see them at the market!!!
jm - yes it is a palm leaf!!!
marie6 - I guess if you live in an apartment a stick insect might be happier but....can't imagine you could give them a pat or take them for a walk without them losing all their legs!!!

If I've ever seen these insects, I didn't know it. They kinda' remind me of preying mantis?
I think they look like very interesting insects.

to JULES i luv your daily photo , i check weekly . i have worked in png for 12 pela year, rabaul is my favorite,time in rabaul 1967/70,2003/4,@ 2007may so i look forwould to yourlocal photos, luv the puppy? enjoy it while you can, i loss 2 dogs in rabaul, 1given and 1 payed for,i was told they got killed on the road. i found out latter i fattened them up for the cooking pot by the TOLIAS who gave them to me. i trust this doesnt happen to your puppy many expats have been fooled in the pass. i worked on the rabaul roads in 03/04 to kokopo and it happened to a expat then.i also have many photos of my stay in png which i enjoy like you. sorry about my comments on the dogs. This makes me think of the stick insect in the early Sue Townshend books --the diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 and three quarters...I think you'd enjoy it
