Sky Watch - at last Tom!!!!

Yesterday wasn't a good day - was feeling very low. The ash was falling like rain - yes we thought the wind had changed but it was back this way and it was horrid. My internet connection was down and the girls are going back on Sunday!!!

When I finally got on this morning though and posted this photo taken off my deck last Monday evening it made me feel better. I really do have the most wonderful view and I am going to sit out there now with a gin (to calm me) and soak it all in, well maybe later in the day- it is only 10 in the morning!!!

This panorama wasn't planned but when a saw the photos I managed to fit two together with some snipping and blending of the edges, however I didn't touch the colour - this is exactly how it looked. If you click on it, it should enlarge and you can get a better idea of how stunning it was.

The phone lines are still appalling and it has taken me ages to try and upload these photos so I may not get to visit many of you - stuff it I think I'll just go and have that gin now!!!

Yikes the photo is wonderful. I am raising my gin and tonic and imagining it hittting your glass gently! Cheers!!

Have a gin for me too!! "Stunning" was the word that popped into my head when I saw your first photo. These shots are truly amazing, and knowing what you have to go through to post them makes them even more special, if that's possible!

lol :)

And my pictures are so huge you'll never get them downloaded either. Stuff it indeed!

Don't you love it when you take a photo of such an amazing scene and it comes out as perfect as this photo has?

Jules, they're beautiful shots.

May I welcome you to the Sky Watch Friday fraternity on behalf of Dot and Tom and all who post shots for SWF.

You must have been here in Melbourne when I was in Sydney. It was 43 degrees the day we left and 11 degrees the day we came back.

You MUST let me know when you'll be here in winter. It would be a great pleasure to catch up with you and He Who Doesn't Blog.

Do keep in touch.

Hi Napaboaniya - tried to leave a message on your blog but i couldn't upload my message it kept saying I was commenting too fast - which is quite a joke considering it keeps freezing and dropping out!!!

Ellen, & alaya - will try and get to you

George & me and my puppies - mangaed to visit you which was amazing.

Hi David - our comments crossed. Great to hear from you. Yes the day I left it was freezing - so we must have been at the airport together. Yes would love to catch up - will let you know when we are in town next.

Jules said...

Gosh Ann I just saw your message above David's missed it. Yes I
may have to try yours in the middle of the night!!!! Hope I haven't had too many gins by then!!!

That sounds terrible - I really am only a social drinker!!!

You have that view and a bottle of gin and you want to look at the internet?
Jules, you are the weirdest person I've ever come across. Hee hee.

Jules, what a photograph and aren't you clever to stitch two photos together. I haven't even tried that yet. Both are fabulous photographs.

Hope you are feeling more cheered now. I remember when I lived in Cairns and felt 'down' it was somehow worse cos I knew I was in paradise, so why wasn't everything perfect?! You know that T-shirt - Not another day in Paradise!

It's ...ing down with rain in this particular paradise today.

Jules said...

Dive - what would i do without you???
You sooo make me laugh!!!

You are sooo right except there is too much ash out there today to enjoy it and now i have a connection I'm not going to waste it!!!!

jilly - I want a truck load of those T-shirts but it really isn't Paradise today - too much ash!!!

People are prepared to pay a lot of money for a light show that lovely!

It’s often the way, such a beautiful place like PNG, rich in resources, and yet through some odd confluence of circumstances it is currently in a bad way. Here’s hoping that the future is brighter.

great catch! In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west, the people create distinctions out of their own minds and then beleive them to be true…. mine’s up too hope you can drop by

Jules - thanks! Just spent over an hour looking for that photograph. Of course I can't find it although I know what book/album it's in - sure it's not loose in a box but one never knows. Anyway I've given up.

Never gorgeous.... just, well you know, bubbling, attractive I suppose - let's face it - young!

I have been lucky enough to see more of your pictures and views from your beautiful island so I know how well these will go down..

Jules: I am so sorry you had all that bother loading your pictures.. I said to Jane last night just after midnight that I had forgotten to do something.. I meant to post you link and I forgot.. I am so sorry Jules.. Mad day yesterday.. Hospital in the afternoon having a 6 day heart monitor fitted, picked Jane up later and when we got home and we had a house full... Our Youngest son turned up hungry as they do... Big Peter was waiting in the back.. yet he as is own key. Then friends turned up.. all in all a great night but it left my mind shot.. not just that but I had the tonic and ice, but the gin bottle was empty... ;o(

Jules, my friend, I can´t promisse a bottle of gin but if you keep that gorgeous viwe frozen for some while I think I could manage going down there with my fins and snorkel to see you're own private "oceanarium" ... and I would bring a couple of bottles of our own good old Oporto wine ... we even have one that makes a fantastic Oporto Tonic!

Beautiful photographs. And how was the gin?

Great taken and view.
Be better.

Jules, I do hope the gin helped -:)

Stunning view from your deck. With scenery like that you almost have no use for the internet anyway. Well, almost. Without your connection you couldn't share your view with us. Glad you've got at least some intermittent connectivity.

Craver Vii said...

Hello Jules. First time visiting. What an incredible view you shared, and I enjoyed the other pictures and stories as well.

About the little girl that was out of focus... let's just say it was a glamor effect like the old movies used to do. ;-) Those children were absolutely precious!

These are gorgeous. I'm sorry you are having such a rough time, but you are right - you certainly do have an amazing view.

Hope to see your critter photo for Camera-Critters this weekend.

Magnificent sky, Jules. Reminds me of sitting outside at the Services Club in Pt. Douglas at sunset.
The whole sky was this colour as the sun set through the smoke of the sugar cane burn-off.
We were probably having a small G & T and wishing you guys were there with us, rather than suffering from a lack of adequate sunsets in Rabaul.
How little did we know !

Hi Everyone - thanks for you comments I hope to visit you all at some stage soon.

Abe & Ellen & Chuck - I didn't actually have any gin. I threaten a lot, but am really only a social drinker!!!!

craver vii - yes at my age those glamor/out of focus shots are the only ones I will allow to be taken. I've heard they were done with Vaseline on the lens - probably an urban myth - can you imagine the mess!!!!

Quinto - the snorkel and fins...... and gin are waiting for you!!!!

MB - Port Douglas is a great spot - PNG with good roads and bread!!!!

Tom - no drama I came back and the link was up so I just added my name - no drama. Hope you are well - that is what's important!!!

Jilly - what a shame but I think you are too modest I bet you were a cutie!!!!.

Yep, stunning was my first thought. Magnificent sky shots. Thank you for all you had to go through to share. All the best!

I am back to visit...and if this stunner is any indicator of what I have missed...I'm in for a great show.
