Sunday morning

Am posting late today (not because of phone lines - what a change) but because I have been busy!!!

I got up early and went over to Pigeon Island with friends. Catherine and Rachael kayaked over and I went to cheer them on in the support boat.

When we got back, I had a bit of a paddle around in the shallows - what fun!!! The plan is I will go next time. I will need some major training me thinks.

Kayaking is great fun, Jules. Go for it!
By the way, the sea temperature here is currently about two degrees above zero.

Hooley Dooley, what fun, Jules.
You seem to improve on perfection, - on a daily basis.
The girl in the pink has obviously got the hang of it and should send a bottle of sea water to young Dive in Norfolk, just to warm him up. Just wrap it in a pink T-shirt !!
Mmmmmh !

Great series of pictures. I thinking kayaking in the South Pacific might be more fun than in the cold waters of the North Atlantic! Have a great week.

That looks like a lot of fun.

You are lucky to have a view of water and coconut trees from your door! Enjoy it. :)

Wow. One bump by a shark or whale and it would dump me into the ocean. That first step is a big one and I can't hold my breath that long. Still if you are immortal, paddling around in the ocean would be a fantastic thing to do. Not for me. But great for those who, as I said, are the immortal ones. Younger than me. LOL

Really nice photographs, Jules. I like the colors.

Gosh how fantastic. Looks a bit choppy to cope with though unless you're used to it, like you are.

Oh! I would love to try this. A girl I go to a group with said she does this and since she has been talking about it, I want to give it a try.

Jules,

Thank you for your beautiful photographs, Rabaul is my hometown I was evacuated out on 28 December 1941 and returned in 1946.
My childhood stories were all the atrocities that happened during the Japanese Occupation.
My Father Ardie (Adolf) Schmidt NGVR was Executed April 1944 (NAA). So many of our Fallen who were deserted, left behind are still there all over New Britain. When I visited Rabaul with my youngest Daughter Charmaine March -April 2007, to me it was just like a war zone, the way it was when I returned in 1946.
It is so wonderful to see photographs of my home land.
Thank you.

Hi Cynthia - so glad you found me - you obviously have an amazing story to tell - I hope you have written it down. Quite a few ex-Rabaul people have contacted me thru the block which is great. Hope you can continue visiting
