Tolai Briefcases

These bilums (bags) are sold at the market and are made from palm fronds.

They are used by the local Tolai men more than the women, so I affectionately call them Tolai Briefcases.

I like them! They would be perfect to go to the beach here.

I read your last week's posts. They are wonderful. Too late to comment all of them (it is already almost 11 PM here).

I don't think I would have enough room to carry anything.

I like the idea of a man's bag but I have no idea what I could possible carry inside. I think it is a nice custom and if I lived there I would probably put a swim suit in it.

Thanks, Jules, for your visits to my blogs and for your generous comments when you get there.

It is hard to tell from the photo...what are the dimensions? I'm already planning what will fit inside.

The style, for a briefcase, is changing in the US however not quite this casual yet ... I can see carrying such a Man-Bag on a beach vacation.

Ah ah, that would be fun to see men in Montpellier wearing those bags :-))

Jules said...

lavender lady - they are about 33 cm (13 inches) square - roomy enough to get the essentials in!!!

I wish I could send you all one but I guess you will have to wait until you visit!!!!

That is great: men bags?! It may take a little while before becoming a trend on Wall Street
