Ring my bell
s It is Sunday here and many local people will be dressing in their Sunday best and heading off to church. The Catholics, Seven Day Adventists and Baptists have quite a hold on the area but there are Anglican and United churches here too. This is the Uniting Church at Raluana, off the Rabaul/Kokopo road. It is on the beachfront in a lovely spot, and I have always admired it as we have driven past.
When we stopped to take a look and get some photos, I found this wonderful little haus win with the bell in it. Obviously the bell ringer doesn't like heights.

Good morning, Jules. This church looks very different from the ones around here. Maybe the ringer likes to work out of a nice sunchair? :-) Well, off to bed... almost midning here. Might post a pic of one of our many churches (people say in Slovenia there 'each hill has its church') tomorrow ... whoops today :-)
Hi Jules, One wonders, for whom that bell tolls. (I couldn't resist asking that rhetorical question today)
aww.. raluana love that place.
is that church right near ericas place??
xx
Rabaul in on my regular feed notifyer, so I'll have no excuse for not dropping in regularly.
Nevr heard of "vigaro" (must be careful with that spelling!!!! Nearly did it wrong). AS you know our chaps are not too hot right now, but I believe that the ladies cricket is in good form.
I liked the little haus :-)) The bell ringer surely would not live in my apartment!
Your photos are beautiful. I also liked the idea of posting a church after a jail :-))
lovely pictures - never seen a bell in such a small place before - not sure what a "haus win" is but good to see one
Very nice.
hyde dp - if you visit my July 26 post - all will be revealed!!!!
erin - yes it is - on the Kokopo side i think
annie - you and I have similar senses of humour - you always make me laugh!!!
chuckeroon - so glad you'll be dropping in regularly - I promise I won't mention the cricket.
You're right about vigoro - I hadn't realised it could be a bit confusing. If you look at these links it will give you an idea about what it is.

I have just realised that the spelling is different on both these sites but vigoro is the correct way.
Nice photos but that bell building looks great. I've never seen one like that before.
Marshall Mcluhan said that the medium is the message; also, the medium is the massage. So to ring your bell, as we were invited-to, I would say that as you didn't attend the service you'll never know.
If I lived in this tropical island paradise, I'd be more than happy with that.
We live with the Northern Territory syndrome which says, "If you never, never go, you'll never, never know". Conclusion:- Keep showing us more of Rabaul, it's super. I think that Marie has probably bought her ticket by now. We might all be there soon !!!
Oh, dear....it seems that Rabaul now has to double it's hotel capacity because of what you've done.
too bad i wasnt able to to to church today.,
It is a nice set of photographs and your comments about them just makes it better.
Thanks for your visits to my blog. I apprecaite it a lot.
