These bilums (bags) are sold at the market and are made from palm fronds.
They are used by the local Tolai men more than the women, so I affectionately call them Tolai Briefcases.

There real is something nice about this picture, though I'll skip on the 'Man-Bag'
Oh come on Tom I can see you mincing down the road with one of these over your arm!!!!
I like them! They would be perfect to go to the beach here.
I read your last week's posts. They are wonderful. Too late to comment all of them (it is already almost 11 PM here).
They look like nice and I'm sure lot of women, here would go mad for having one !
I don't think I would have enough room to carry anything.
That's my kind of accessory. I really like these.
Fabulous!!!!!! I'm sure Fabrizio is already negotiating the import concession for the Italian market.
Great idea Fabrizio - " My people will ring your people"
Wow! I'd love one of those for Westminster in the rush hour.
......ref your comments on R u T...glad you appreciated the memory
Oh! Jules... I've 'Minced' down the road many a time.. and I've the pictures to prove it. Maybe I can dig them out.
Mincing is a nice fun word don't you think.
old tom - great word and I'm sure the photos are too - can't wait mate!!!!
I like the idea of a man's bag but I have no idea what I could possible carry inside. I think it is a nice custom and if I lived there I would probably put a swim suit in it.
Thanks, Jules, for your visits to my blogs and for your generous comments when you get there.
It is hard to tell from the photo...what are the dimensions? I'm already planning what will fit inside.
The style, for a briefcase, is changing in the US however not quite this casual yet ... I can see carrying such a Man-Bag on a beach vacation.
Ah ah, that would be fun to see men in Montpellier wearing those bags :-))
lavender lady - they are about 33 cm (13 inches) square - roomy enough to get the essentials in!!!
I wish I could send you all one but I guess you will have to wait until you visit!!!!
Wow...how cute...what a novel idea....wonder if a laptop would fit in it?
That is great: men bags?! It may take a little while before becoming a trend on Wall Street
