Riven I - Reflections in Potholes

This week I thought we’d visit Riven Beach which is a surf beach not far from my house. We will have to take the 4WD as my little car will not make it.

We turn off the main road just before we get to the airport. The road is not sealed and can get quite muddy after rain.

I have found pot holes to be slightly more tolerable when they have reflections in them to photograph.

Well those are neat potholes. You can see them and it looks like the road would be a mess even for 4WD

Neat idea to shot the potholes. The water is so still.

It's never good to come across a pot hole but the reflection may make it better.

Great pictures and another good idea to use pot hole for.
As for the road, well that dose look neat and I know me and my Land Rover would love it...mud and all.
One of my posts tomorrow shows the land rover covered in something I thought was mud but with the smell soon realised a farmer had been cleaning out his cow shed....more on that tomorrow as I'm off to bed now

I do know potholes...from my youth. Now I think someone is falling down on the job...your reflections are just right.

Hi Jules, I hope your dueling songs are out of your head by now. When I saw this photo I started singing a new song. Do you know this one . . .

"Reflections of, the way life used to be
Uh, Reflections of, the love you took from me
In you I put
All my faith and trust
Right before my eyes
My world has turned to dust
Uh, Reflections of, the way life used to be
Reflections of, the love you took from me."

ahhh Annie - you are a song bird. Only thing is that if the reflections in this puddle reflect the love you had for someone - the love was pretty grubby!!!

hi old tom wiggley - I suppose the saying will have to change from
"......hit the fan" to "....hit the 4WD"

joy - your reflections were much cleaner!!!

I lived in PNG from 1970-1972, and your pics. have brought back many memories. I have a 37 year old picture of the markets that looks exactly like your current one...

Wow, those are great photos!

To tell the truth I would be happy to see potholes in my area. It is so so so dry!

These are surely the finest potholes anywhere. They are a tourist attraction in themselves. Were there any cow sheds nearby?
This is a lovely theme, we await tomorrow's sequel.

serendipity - so glad to meet a wantok!! Many things are still the same but many things are not. Infrastructures and services have deteriorated, but the people are still wonderful and life is very good - you get addicted to it. Where were you living?

m benaut - not a cow in sight!

erin - hope you enjoy the ride

marie - I will blow some our rain your way!
